Shopping in Akumal

There is a very small open market located on your left as you enter Akumal's main entrance.

Here you can find fresh fruit, vegetables, sodas, handicrafts, Mexican blankets, and more. There are also two stores where you can buy additional food items. They are located on the right side of the entrance. Along the road that leads you north of Akumal you will find small stores from time to time. If you are looking for a greater selection of handicrafts, jewelry, or produce, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or Cancun are better bets. You can also support the CEA (Centro Ecologico de Akumal) and their sea turtle protection work by buying some of their T-shirts and other items.
