Santa Rosa Wall Accessible30 min by boat. Considered the largest dive site in Cozumel. Minimum depth 15 m (50 ft). Maximun depth 40 m (130 ft). The wall starts at 15 m (50 ft) and drops into deep. You can find tunnels covered with coral and beautiful sponges. Eagle rays, turtles, spotlight parrotfish, barracuda and black groupers are often spotted here. Very swift current conditions.
Punta Sur Consists of a deep wall dive, like the Santa Rosa Wall. This is the southernmost reef on the island. Minimum depth 27 m (90 ft). Maximun depth 40 m (130 ft). Home to the famous “Devil's Throat,” which starts at the opening of a dark narrow tunnel at 27 m (90 ft) and opens into a cathedral room with 4 tunnels. Butterfly fish, angel fish, eagle rays and even some sharks are spotted here along with giant sponges and whip coral. Recommended only for experts. Occasional moderate current conditions.
Palancar Gardens (Palancar Shallows) Appropriate for snorkeling. Beautiful dive with many large caverns. Site is formed by a strip reef about 25 m (8 ft) wide and very long. The strip has many fissures and tunnels. Minimum depth 12 m (40 ft). Maximun depth 21 m (70 ft). The main attraction here are the enormous stove-pipe sponges and yellow tube sponges. Deep in the reef, black corals can be seen. Damselfish, parrotfish and angel fish also inhabit this reef. Gentle current conditions.
Columbia Shallows Great site for snorkeling and scuba diving. One of the most preferred. Good visibility. Minimum depth 4 m (15 ft). Maximun depth 11 m (35 ft). Covered with sponges of many colors. Great number of elkonhorn coral, pillar coral and anemones have made this site their home. Light to moderate current conditions.
International Pier Preferred by those wanting to avoid a long drive or boat ride. Very close to La Ceiba Beach Hotel. Minimum depth 15 m (50 ft). Maximun depth 30 m (100 ft). Home for red sponges, and fire coral. Site only available for diving weekends, and only after you receive permission from the harbor master. Many cruise ships and car ferries dock here. Light to moderate current conditions.
Paradise Reef Around 183 m (200 yards) offshore. Consist of three separated reefs running parallel to shore. Minimum depth 12 m (40 ft). Maximun depth 15 m (50 ft). Plenty of sea life. The toad fish is believed to be found here exclusively. Very popular for night divers. Light to moderate current conditions.
Chankanaab Caves Located south of Chankanaab Park. Accessible through the park itself, or by entering south of the park towards Corona beach where you can avoid the park entrance fee. Minimum depth 11 m (35 ft). Maximun depth ? m (? ft). Fresh water flows out of the caves continuously. Large tarpan fish can be found here. Light to moderate current conditions.
Balones of Chankanaab Named after a series of coral heads shaped like balloons. Minimum depth 18 m (60 ft). Maximun depth 21 m (70 ft). Lots of lobsters, crabs, and other marine life. Ideal for novices. Light current conditions.
Tormentos Reef Many colorful coral heads. Minimum depth 15 m (50 ft). Maximun depth 21 m (70 ft). Spotted green moray eels, angelfish, groupers, grunts and snappers can be seen here. Very swift current conditions.
